Men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested some suspected lawbreakers at a party venue at Asokoro area of Abuja.
NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the development on Thursday, and said the party was held on Wednesday night. He accused the party-goers of being possession of cannabis, which is illegal in Nigeria.
Although Babafemi did not provide the number of suspects arrested, but it was gathered that over a hundred individuals were apprehended.
“We arrested some youths holding a hemp party in Abuja. In addition to the party is the launching of a new drink. The party was organised by three ladies. They are in our custody. We will issue a statement on the incident shortly,” Babafemi said.
The NDLEA under Colonel Buba Marwa, has been tough on drug offenders. In 2021, it seized cash and illicit drugs worth over N130bn.
