Pen Resoure Academy comes first in science competition

…Makes Gombe and Northern Nigeria proud

The Pen Resource Academy, Gombe has come first at this year’s 774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award with the 119 points.

Pen Resoure Academy, Gombe (PRA) represented Gombe State at the National competition of the 774 YONSPA, held in Abuja yesterday, Monday, 14th March, 2022.

The award was presented to the 16 year old student of the Pen Resoure Academy, Maryam Ogunbayo by the Hon. Minister, Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The PRA participated in the competition organised by the Gombe State Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation where the school emerged winner which led to its emergence as the only school that represented Gombe State at the National competition of the 2022’s 774 YONSPA.

Maryam Ogunbayo who represented the Pen Resoure Academy and Gombe State was the best in Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and scored 119 points during the finals of the competition.

It was learned that, this is the first time in the history of the competition for any State in the North to win first Position and also the first time to be won by a female in the entire country.

Maryam of Pen Resource Academy is expected to meet President Muhammadu Buhari soon for the Presidential awards.

It is worthy to note that Pen Resource Academy is the Proprietor of the proposed Pen Resource University, Gombe which is awaiting approval of the Federal Executive Council any moment from now.

The Academy was also the winner of 1st position of the National Computer Science Completion 2017.
