
The National Independent Electoral Commission, INEC – has released it’s calendar and political itinerary for 2022 in Nigeria.
The calendar consists of political activities to usher in the 2023 presidential and gubernatorial elections in the country.
According to the calendar released by the INEC, starting from March 2022 the commission will give guidelines to the respective parties to conduct primary elections that will birth flag bearers.
According to the calendar, by April 2022, campaign for presidential and gubernatorial elections will kick off, therefore by, May 2022, there will be party Congresses across Nigeria.
These will lead up to February 2023, when the presidential elections will officially be conducted.

Consultation continues January: 1-31
Intensive consultation continues February: 1-28.
March: INEC gives guideline for aspirants, candidates, parties in respect of congress, primary election and campaign.
April: Campaign for Presidential and Gubernatorial elections.
May: Party Congresses.
June: Party Primary Elections.
July: Petitions on Primary elections.
August: Court of Appeal hearing on Primary elections conducted.
September: Supreme Court verdict on all Primary elections. Candidates & winners for Presidential & Gubernatorial flag bearer of Parties contesting.
October: Aggressive campaign by candidates/Parties across the federation.
November: Campaign continues.
December: Peace Accord signed by all presidential and Gubernatorial candidates.
February 2023: Presidential and National Assembly elections
March 2023: Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday warned that political parties should strictly adhere to it’s timetable and guidelines as it will not tolerate any default from any of the political parties.
