A 60-year-old Calabar herbalist identified as Ani Ikoneto has died on Christmas Eve, after his dog bit off his manhood in Calabar.
The late Ani, who resided at Jebbs Street in Calabar South Local Government Area, was dreaded in his area, and on that day, he reportedly returned home drunk.
In a state of drunkenness, he entered his room and left the door open.
Neighbours believe that in his state of stupor and drunkenness, he may have been pressed to use the toilet. Unable to help himself to the toilet, he excreted himself.
An eyewitness who simply preferred to be identified as Itoro said the late herbalist’s dog was outside and smelt the excreta and went inside.
Itoro said the herbalist screamed after the dog might have bit and eaten up his manhood which led to unstoppable bleeding.
Itoro said: “When we heard him scream, we thought hoodlums had attacked him. But when we got there, we saw that his private part was gone and his dog had blood on its mouth.”
He said by the time neighbours finished cleaning him of the shit, he was bleeding so much and on the way to the hospital, he died.
It was also gathered that the late herbalist Ani Ikoneto was living alone, as his daughters were married.
