Insecurity: Arewa Youth adopts new strategy against banditry, kidnappings

Arewa Youths Consultative Councils on Saturday in Kano adopted sustainable security project to combat banditry, and other violent crimes across 19 Northern states.

The security strategy tagged, “Project SUSPRONS 2021-2031”, target 2,750,000 youths across the region which .centred around rejuvenating the psyche of the Northern youth to resist being used as tools for violent crimes in the region.

Zayad Ayuba Alhaji, the National President of the Council who spoke in Kano during its meeting said “we are here to talk senses to ourselves and to bring about means that will be aimed at proffering solutions to the insecurity problems that bedevil Northern Nigeria.”

Ayuba Alhaji,disclosed that the historic meeting would come decide on how to address banditry, kidnapping and other social atrocities before 2031.

“This project, called SUSPRONS will engage youth in the 19 Northern states across the federation to work assiduously in making it a history before 2013.

The Arewa Youth stalwart explained that the project will discourage recruitment of youth into banditry, kidnapping, Boko Haram among other criminal acts.”

Similarly, the group planned to build capacity of omen to actively play their roles as mothers and to empower them in countering violent extremism and radicalism amongst the children.

Zayad, said the regional body planned to discourage the recruitment of youths into various criminal gangs, banditry and Jihadist groups through awareness and capacity development initiative.

“The overall projects is targeting two million, seven hundreds and fifty thousand youth across the 19 States of the North plus Abuja”.

“We are establishing a permanent and reliable avenue for engagement and sensitization of young people across the North for them to rise up against insecurity in the region”
