Three security details of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje sustained various degrees of injury on Tuesday night when their convoy came under attack by persons suspected to be bandits along Shema, Katsina.
It was learnt that the security details, the press, and some other unnamed civilians were on their way back to Kano shortly after All Progressives Congress rally in Zamfara where Governor Abubakar Bello Matawale dumped his party for the ruling party.
Eyewitness account said the bandits shattered the multi purpose ambulance attached to the convoy during a gun duel that lasted two hours.
The account disclosed that Governor Ganduje was not in the convoy during the security breach, adding that the Kano state governor had joined his Jigawa state counterpart, Governor Muhammadu Abubakar Badaru for the return journey back to Kano.
