Train collapse: NRC tenders apology to passengers

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has apologized to all passengers on board over the default of KA2 train that left Rigasa at Dutse section describing it as failure which was as a result of mechanical malfunction and it was highly regretted.

The Manager, Abuja-Kaduna train service, Mr Paschal Nnorli, in a statement issued on Monday explained that this failure and consequent delay no doubt caused delays to subsequent train services from Abuja to Kaduna. 

He said, “The failed Locomotive is currently receiving attention from our team of Engineers and Technician at the Idu Locomotive workshop.

“While thanking our esteemed passengers for their patronage, we once more sincerely apologise for inconveniences this breakdown would have caused them.”

On Monday, hundreds of passengers on the Abuja-Kaduna  train service  were again stranded in the bush after the train developed fault few minutes after the train left Rigasa station in Kaduna state. 

A passenger in a tweet said the train had innitially stopped like twice before it finally broke down in Dutse, Kaduna state around 7am.

However, passengers have continued to lament the rigours of traveling on the route by train as breakdowns of the locomotive leave them stranded for hours.
