
A former deputy speaker, Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, representing Makoda local government area has been elected the new speaker of the Kano state House of Assembly.
His emergence as the new speaker followed the sudden resignation of the former speaker, Alhaji Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa, in the early hours of Monday.
Meanwhile, Zubairu Hamza Massu has been elected and sworn in as the new deputy speaker of the ninth assembly.
Alhaji labaran Abdul Madari, member representing Warawa local government was elected as the new majority leader of the House.
Alhaji Abdullahi Ilyasu Yaryasa, member, also emerged as the new deputy speaker.
