A federal High Court in Kano on Wednesday dismissed a case filed by Aminu Wali faction of the PDP challenging the conduct of state and local government party congresses.

The verdict confirmed legitimacy on Kwankwaso’s faction of the party as the faction recognized by law.

Before now, while the Kwankwasiyya faction announced its withdrawal from the forthcoming local government election, Aminu Wali faction on the other hand indicated interest to participate.

Ambassador Wali had approached the court in June seeking nullification of the ward congresses held on march 17th 2020 for being excluded from contesting the election.

The PDP in its defense argued that the matter is the internal affairs of the party and the plaintiffs lack locus standi to challenge the party in court without exhausting internal party mechanism.

In his ruling, Justice Lewis Allagoa agreed with the submission of the party that the action is statutes barred having been filed 85 days after the course of action arose and therefore struck out the suit.

The judge also dismissed the motion on joinder filed by two other members of the party for lack of merit.
