The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Kano state chapter, weekend frowned at the sale of public properties by governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Addressing journalists in Kano on Friday evening, PDP stalwart, and a running mate to PDP governorship candidate in 2019 general election, Aminu Abdussalam alleged that the sitting administration is selling public properties to individuals for personal gains through non-transparent and unconstitutional means.
Alhaji Abdussalam said “the action of the state governor to sell public properties to individuals is a sign of setback to the state and the nation at large, stressing that the Kwankwasiyya group would follow lawful means to stop what it described as “ineptitude, cluelessness and breach of constitutional provisions.”
The PDP chieftain lamented that Dr.Ganduje had reversed the policy initiated by the immediate past administration in the state to establish zoological garden in each senatorial zones, as he stressed ” instead of completing the one initiated by the immediate past administration, located at Bagauda and establishing another in Kano North, is to say the least going in anti-clock wise direction.”
“It is no longer news that our historical monuments and other public properties of critical importance to the development of Kano are under serious threat by the governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, under the APC-led government.
“You may recall that Kano state government is selling public properties such as Gidan Zoo, Daula Hotel, Triumph Publishing Company, Eid ground at Kofar Mata, Panshekara Modern Abattoir, some part of Fagge Juma’at Mosque, Hajj Camp and Shahuci Motor Park to individuals for personal gains through non-transparent and unconstitutional means that are hitherto being used for the benefit of all.
Mr Abdussalam therefore called on the state government and wealthy individuals involved in grabbing public lands to desist from the “merciless act” adding that such arrangements would be reversed whenever the party capture political power in the state.
He further stated that though the Kwankwasiyya movement shall not be deluded by the attractive idea of good return on investment, it will have no option than to “diligently pursue lawful means and engage in public protests in order to stop the disaster.”
He however lamented that the Ganduje administration has failed to constitute investigative panel against Police brutality in the state in the wake of EndSars protests, adding that “this has raised the question on whether there is no Police brutality in Kano or no reported killings by the Police in places in the state.”
