Police kill two at tea joint in Kano

Palpable tension has enveloped Sharada quarters of Kano metropolis following a bloody encounter with a policeman who was alleged to have killed two youngsters at a tea joint last Saturday.

The victims were identified as Abubakar Isah (aka Banupe)and Ibrahim Sulaiman ( Mainasara) .

Eyewitness told VerityNews that trouble started when men of the anti-Daba unit of Kano state police command stormed a popular tea joint to effect arrest that met a stubborn resistance.

The account said in the ensuing melee, one of the officers identified as Ado allegedly stabbed Mainasara while resisting arrest.

The eyewitness said:”one of the policemen, Ado in trying to drag out, Ibrahim Sulaiman (Mainasara) from the shop, stabbed him twice and he started bleeding. Immediately others at spot rushed to save the situation, the policemen shot into the crowd and Abubakar Isah ( Banupe) was hit by the bullet and died instantly,’’

The account said the tragic incident at the tea joint forced the heavily armed anti-Daba personnel to beat a fast retreat.

It was further learnt that subsequently, the two victims were rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialists Hospital where attempt to save the life of Ibrahim Sulaiman (Mainasara) failed despite blood transfusion at about 2.00 am.

Efforts to seek the reaction of Kano police Command failed, as the local image maker, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa could not be reached on his known GSM line as at press time.
