Big plaza and a nearby neighbourhood market around Area 10, Garki in Abuja have been shot down and residentsare currently scampering for safety after security operatives battled hoodlums attempting to invade a warehouse locate inside Art and Culture, a government facility.
The facility houses the social development secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
Upon deployment, policemen and other security personnel fired gunshots and tear gas to angry youths who stormed a warehouse with COVID-19 palliatives early this morning.
The warehouse is located in the precinct of the Cyprian Ekwensi building and the UTC market.
A graphics designer, Segun Stickers, said the UTC market and the big shopping plaza in the area had been shut down.\
Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, ASP Mariam Yusuf, said “policemen were deployed to guard government infrastructure including Social Development Secretariat”.
