The Kano State House of Assembly has nullified the suspension of Kumbotso Local Government Council Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Ado Panshekara earlier announced by council members penultimate week.
Consequently, the Assembly suspended all the seven council members that carried out the purported suspension of the council boss for a period of 3 months.
The seven councillors were suspended for violating constitutional provision as contained in the Kano State Government Law, 2006 section 55(1) and insubordination to the state assembly.
The affected councillors include, Yusuf Ibrahim Kumbotso, Aminu Sani Panshekara, Najiyu Magaji Liman Danbare and Lawan Umar Mariri.
Others include, Hamza Abdulkarim, Aminu Haruna and Magaji Alasan.
The House of Assembly in the suspension letter stated they would be out of office for 3 months
from October, 2nd to January, 2nd, 2021.
Explaining further, the Committee Chairman, Kano House of Assembly, Alhaji Zubairu Hamza Massu, representing Sumaila constituency said the suspension of the Council Chairman carried out by the seven members was not done in accordance with the law.
He explained that while an investigation into the crisis is ongoing, the seven council members remain suspended.
”We requested to see the seven members so as to address the issues but they said they were in Abuja. So in other to ensure that there is peace as their action was wrong, hence the suspendebsion”
The twist in the political drama was sequel to a letter written to Kumbotso LG council Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Ado Panshekara through the Secretary, Kano House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Council Affairs, Lawan Yusuf Sagagi.
