Two lawmakers free 27 prisoners

Two members of the House of Representatives from both Sokoto and Kebbi States, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), have jointly secured the release of twenty seven inmates of the Sokoto Central Custodial and Bissalam Custodial Centres.

They are : Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi Kalambaina, representing Wamakko and Kware Federal Constituency,  Sokoto State  and Alhaji Bello Ka’oje, representing Bagudo and Suru Federal Constituency, Kebbi State.

The lucky inmates were, three women and twenty four men, and were released after the payment of the fines slammed on them by various courts were defrayed by the two lawmakers. This was disclosed in a statement signed by Hon. Ahmed Abdullahi Kalambaina,

Each of the freed inmates was given N 5,000 transport money, to enable them travel back to their respective towns and villages .

The Deputy Controller in charge of the Sokoto Custodial Centre, commended the lawmakers for the invaluable gesture , which will help in further decongesting it.

He urged other privileged persons in the society to emulate the Representatives, with a view to alleviating the suffering of the needy persons in the society .

Reps Kalambaina and Ka’oje, admonished the freed inmates to steer clear of any obnoxious acts capable of bringing them to the centres.

” You should endeavour to be law abiding , pious and good Ambassadors, so as to be productive to yourselves and the society ,” they added .
