
Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun) has congratulated Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba for his recent elevation as one of the Justices of the Supreme Court.
Governor Matawalle said the elevation was well deserved as Justice Lawal has proven himself as an upright Judicial officer through out his working career without any blemish.
The Governor expressed the excitement of the people in the state considering the fact that Justce Lawal is the first indigene of the state to occupy such exalted position as a Justice of the Supreme Court, Zailani Bappa, Special Adviser, Public Enlightenment, Media and Communications
“On behalf of myself, my family, the Government and people of the state, I wish to congratulate Your Lordship, Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba for your elevation to the position of Supreme Court Judge”, Matawalle said.
Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, who is also the Shettiman Maru had his Primary and Secondary School education at Demonstration Primary School in Maru and Science Secondary School in Gusau respectively. He acquired his University degree in Law from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and was called to the Nigerian Bar after his one year training at the Nigerian Law School.
He has worked in Sokoto State and in Zamfara state as a Chief Judge before moving to the Federal High Court. Later, he was elevated to the position of a Judge at the Federal Court of Appeal. He was the Chairman of the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal for 2019.
