Prof.Gambari inaugurates 11th BUK VC

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Bayero University, Kano, Professor Ibrahim Gambari on Thursday inaugurated the new
Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas.

In his short speech at the inauguration ceremony, the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Gambari congratulated the new Vice Chancellor and tasked him to work assiduously to maintain the University’s tradition of pursuing excellence in all ramifications.

Professor Gambari who is the Chief of staff to a sitting Nigerian President further commended the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello for improving the quality standards of the University’s research, teaching and community services.

Prof Abbas, who is the 11th Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano also in an emotion laden speech said “I need the cooperation of the Council in order to deliver on the responsibilities attached to the office.

The new VC who took time to eulogise his predecessor, Professor Yahuza Bello described him as outstanding teacher.

He said “Sir, before I sit down, I would like to tell you that the outgoing Vice Chancellor was my teacher. He taught me mathematics and many courses in Sciences. I am proud to be associated with him”.

The Vice Chancellor appealed to members of the University Community to join hands with him in order to move the BUK to an envious and prosperous height.

Professor Abbas similarly sought the support and prayers from members of the University Community and other concerned stakeholders to succeed in office.

He therefore expressed appreciation to all staff that voted for him during the Congregation Parley of 5th August 5th, 2020 , adding that it’s your support that calls for our presence here today.

The 11th Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano pledged committment on welfare of staff and students , adding that would be one of his utmost priorities, assuring that he would work with the staff and students unions in the University for a hitch free tenure.
