The Director General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu has commended the Kano state government for conducting a lot of COVID-19 tests.
“Kano state is testing more than any state in Nigeria. They are not having as many cases as before. We are confident in their response.”, the DG said.
He made the commendation recently in NTA’s Good Morning Nigeria, reflecting that, “There was a time on this programme that everyone was criticising Kano for their response. And you know we sent the biggest team…Kano state government invested Millions of Naira. They rose to the challenge!
Advocating for other states to borrow a leaf from Kano the NCDC Boss said “It shows that we can turn this around in certain states. We can turn it around if we work together. Work together across federal and states, across partners and across whatever lines we use to distinguish ourselves.”
He added “This is what I keep on offering. Every state in Nigeria to work together to protect the health of all Nigerian citizens irrespective of the states they are living.”
