FCTA distributes palliatives to widows in Barracks

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has delivered palliative items to 287 widows in various military barracks as part of measures to cushion the effect of the sit-at-home order.  

Minister of State FCT Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, who made the presentation at the Mambilla Barracks, Asokoro on behalf of the FCT Administration said the items would be distributed to 287 needy rank and file officers/soldier widows in military barracks.  

Aliyu said the beneficiaries are drawn from 7 Guards Battalion, Lungi barracks, 102 Guards Battalion, Zuma barracks, 176 Guards barracks, Gen. A.O Azazi barracks Gwagwalada, 177 Guards Battalion, Shitu Alao barracks Keffi, and Guards Brigade Garrison, Mambilla barracks, Asokoro, Abuja.  

According to her, 70 widows are drawn from 7 Guards Battalion, Lungi barracks, while 36 widows are from 102 Guards Battalion, Zuma barracks, and 56 widows are drawn from, 176 Guards barracks, Gen. A.O Azazi barracks Gwagwalada.  

Others are 60 from 177 Guards Battalion, Shitu Alao barracks Keffi, and 65 widows drawn from Guards Brigade Garrison, Mambilla barracks, Asokoro, bringing the total to 287 widows.  

She prayed that God would continue to strengthen the Nigerian Army in the battle against insurgency. Aliyu used the occasion to call for support especially for widows in various barracks.    

While receiving the items, Chief of Staff, Guards Brigade, Col. Kasim Sidi, thanked the FCT Administration for the gesture, adding that the palliative items would go a long way to cushion the effect of the sit-at-home order.  

“On behalf of Guards Brigade, I want to thank you very sincerely for this palliatives. It goes to show that we are not forgotten in this reach-out period. Please continue to consider us whenever there is a reach-out like this,”

Items donated include 500 cartons of Indomie, 500 packs of gala,  rice, soft drinks and water.
