An unnamed elderly couple has welcomed twin children at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital ..
The hospital shared the news on Sunday, April 19, 2020. Taking to its official page on Twitter, the hospital gave more details about the new parents and the birth of the twins.
They explained that the mother of twins was a 68-year-old woman and first time carrying a pregnancy and she successfully delivered her twin.
The hospital noted that the new mother got pregnant through In Vitro Fertilisation popularly called IVF, which was done at an outside facility, and was thereafter referred to LUTH at early gestation and subsequently managed till term.
They said she delivered through an elective cesarean section at 37 weeks on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
This is the first in LUTH, Nigeria, and Africa! Mother and babies are doing well,” the hospital said.
