CAFEi determined to strengthen financial inclusion across Nigeria- Osibogun

The Consumer Awareness and Financial Enlightenment Initiative (CAFEi) is determined to boost financial inclusion across the country.

Mrs Debola Osibogun, CAFEi President, made this known in Lagos.

She said that the organisation would continue to map out strategies to support financial inclusion drive of the Federal Government.

Osibogun said that the organisation had perfected arrangements to host a symposium to mark the 2020 edition of the Global Money Week.

She noted that the symposium, slated for March 26 with the theme: “Protecting and Empowering the Consumer Through Financial Literacy’’.

According to her, the decision to discuss on Financial Literacy came as a result of the urgent need to address financial inclusion in the society.

Osibogun, a former President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), said CAFEi had for years advocated for an inclusive financial system and would continue to do so.

“The organisation of this symposium is just a way to continue the conversation and put financial literacy to the fore of societal issues to be addressed.

“We are delighted to have notable personalities gather to discuss such a fundamental issue on our platform,” she said in a statement.

Osibogun said the event would be chaired by the Chairman of Access Bank, Dr (Mrs) Dere Awosika.

Prof. Kingsley Moughalu, former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria and 2019 Presidential Candidate of Young People’s Party (YPP), would be the Keynote Speaker.

CAFEi was launched in 2019 to address consumers’ complaints, especially in the financial sector and ensure that response time is drastically reduced in order to render satisfactory services to the banking public.

The initiative endorsed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the CIBN will expectedly drive consumers’ awareness of financial institutions offerings in the market and boost service delivery across the industry value-chain. (NAN)
