FEC okays N6.1bn Kotonkarfe bridge


The Federal Executive Council (FEC) Wednesday approved N6.1 billion for the rehabilitation of Murtala Mohammed Bridge in Kotonkarfe, Kogi state.

This was disclosed by the Minister of State for Works and Housing Mr Abubakar D. Aliyu while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the weekly FEC meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We presented a memo to the Council, which the council graciously approved. The memo was on the rehabilitation of Murtala Mohammed Bridge, at Kotonkarfe, in Kogi State.

The contract sum is N6.61 billion with a completion period of 24 months,” he said.

The minister said the rehabilitation work covers the entire bridge, which has a distance of 1.76 kilometres and the scope of work is to rehabilitate the dual carriage-way between the bridge embankment.

“Others include, the repair of bridge protection work, repair of bridge furniture works, repair of asphaltic concrete works, repair of concrete steel works on foundation sub-structure of the bridge on the water cleaning and corrosion control,” he said.
