Wike to FG: Warn Oshiomhole against negative utterances

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers has said that Oshiomhole’s statements can trigger tension in the country.

Wike said that Oshiomhole’s remarks, which he describes as inflammatory, are capable of destabilising Nigeria.

The River state governor said that the APC chairman has no power to say that there will not be any swearing-in of Duoye Diri, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate in the last Bayelsa gubernatorial election.

In a statement released by his special assistant on electronic media, Simeon Nwakaudu, Wike warned Oshiomhole not to drag other parts of the Niger Delta into his comments.

He said: “Who is Oshiomhole to determine who has spread in a state? Supreme Court has made a ruling. It is unfortunate for Oshiomhole to come forward to say that nobody will be sworn in.

“He believes that he has the forces to cause crisis. He is arrogating powers to himself, which is not good ”

It would be recalled that Oshiomhole had vowed that the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Douye Diri would never be sworn in as Bayelsa governor.

Oshiomhole was by this remark reacting the apex court’s verdict which sacked the Bayelsa governor-elect, David Lyon, on Thursday, February 13.

In a press conference at the APC’s national headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, the APC chairman said that the verdict of the court lacked justice.
