Wife of the first Nigerian prime minister Hajiya Jummai Abubakar Tafawa Balewa has died on Sunday evening.
Granddaughter of the late prime minister Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka who confirmed the death in a telephone interview with Blueprint said the late prime minister’s wife died of cardiac arrest.
She said before her death, the old woman was taken to India to seek medical care on her heart disease but was discharged some days ago hale and hearty.
Wanka added that after she was discharged, Mrs Tafawa Balewa died suddenku in Lagos, Nigeria as a result of cardiac arrest.
She will be buried today in Bauchi.
