
After almost 10 years in the doldrums, the future of Ajaokuta Steel Company will be given a priority attention at ongoing Russia- Africa Summit.
The summit which is being attended by African Heads of State will bring up fresh perspectives on some global issues and challenges like nuclear technology, energy development, digital transformation, environment, security, mining and steel strategies, according to an earlier statement signed by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.
In an interview with Channels Television this morning and monitored by Verity News, Garba Shehu said President Muhammadu Buhari and Russian President Vladimir Putin of Russia will discuss Ajaouta and other steel related matters, trade and investment and ” building partnerships that will enhance Nigeria’s huge gas potential following Russia’s remarkable success in gas exporration”
The massive Ajaokuta steel complex was conbstructed by the then USSR but was yet to be completed before their departure.
It was subsequently enmeshed in political crisis and later concessioned to Solgas and later Global Infrastructure.
