JUAC FCT/FCDA mulls housing estate for members

The
Chairman, Joint Unions Action Committee for the Federal Capital Territory and
Federal Capital Development Authority (JUAC FCT/FCDA), Comrade Oluwakorede
Matilukuro, Wednesday, said plans are on the way to construct estate for his
members.

Matilukoro,
who spoke in Abuja at the union’s 2019 week celebration with the theme:
“Effective staff management for optimal productivity’’, decried a situation
where the management of the FCT/FCDA would allocate land for other
organisations where its members do not have any.

To this end,
he said the union would be meeting the FCT minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello on
how accommodation problems confronting the FCTA/FCDA staff would be addressed.

The JUAC
chairman said: “What we will be presenting to him (the minister) is the issue
of accommodation. It is shameful that we are the one giving so many people land
here in the FCT.

“I can
mention many estates that are serving as the NNPC quarters, Civil Defence. But
as we speak now, we don’t even have one as either FCDA or FCTA housing estate.

“So, one of
the issues that we will be putting forward now is the issue of accommodation.
JUAC is presently working on one and we pray that things work out as we are
moving on.

“We have
gone far. We have a very small land and we are thinking that even it is for 100
staff that will can accommodate, it will be a good way to start so that when
you are calling on them, you will say this is what our effort has given to
us’’.

Earlier in
his address, the FCT minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello, who said he considered
JUAC as partner in progress, promised to work very closely with the union.
