“Why I’m prioritizing self-love” – Omotola opens up on surgery mark

Popular Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has shared a reflection on self-love and resilience, revealing that she was left with a scar on her stomach following an emergency surgery in 2024. The scar, she noted, was on an area she once considered one of her most attractive features.

In a post on her Instagram page on Saturday, Omotola shared moments from a special Valentine’s Day photoshoot, where she briefly lifted her top, revealing the scar before adjusting her outfit.

She admitted experiencing a fleeting moment of insecurity but quickly dismissed it, choosing instead to focus on gratitude and self-acceptance.

She encouraged others to embrace both their physical and emotional scars while celebrating life.

She wrote, “Loving yourself first is the greatest Val gift. Late last year, I had an emergency surgery… one of the best parts of my body was my tummy… Oh well, not so perfect now…

“During this shoot, I forgot and grabbed my top during my pose, and I heard a little voice say… there’s nothing to show anymore…

“Not me! That thing that’ll shake my confidence has not been created. I smiled and danced. I’m alive… it’s just scars.

“Some people’s scars are physical, and some are emotional… but today, smile, dance, and be proud, beautiful. You’re still here, and you look dam good too!

“What if I’m not perfect? Would you still love me?”

In November 2023, Omotola disclosed that she had undergone emergency surgery after experiencing intense back and chest pain, persistent vomiting, and severe stomach discomfort.
