Manchester United’s Amad Diallo faces surgery, Mainoo to miss Tottenham match

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo is set to undergo surgery next week after suffering an ankle injury, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported Sunday that the club’s full focus will now be on ensuring Diallo is in top shape for the next campaign.

“Understand Man United’s current plan is for Amad Diallo to undergo surgery next week after suffering ankle injury. His season is almost over and full focus will be on getting in best shape for next season,” he wrote via X

Meanwhile, United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is expected to miss the club’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Tottenham due to an injury.

Romano disclosed that the youngster could be sidelined for two to three weeks, pending the final assessment of his condition.

“Kobbie Mainoo, expected to miss Tottenham game with an injury — confirmed. He could be out for 2/3 weeks, still waiting for final verdict and time scale,” he said

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed confidence in young talents Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, stating that their age should not be a barrier to first-team opportunities.

“When you see how they behave on the pitch, let them go. They are ready to go, why stop them? Just because they are 17?” Arteta said. “Let them go, develop, enjoy.”

Following victory on Saturday, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has made history by recording six assists in the Premier League — more than any other goalkeeper in the competition’s history.

The Brazilian shotstopper marked the milestone by gifting his match-worn shirt to his son.

“With this one, I made history with six Premier League assists,” Ederson said.
