Super Eagles AFCON 2025 opponent names new coach

Sami Trabelsi has named new head coach of the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

Trabelsi will take charge of the former African champions for the second time, following his reign between 2011 and 2013.

The 57-year-old guided the team success at the 2011 African Nations Championship.

The former defender will now take full charge of the Carthage Eagles after Kais Yaakoubi served as the interim head coach, following Faouzi Benzarti’s departure.

Under Yaakoubi’s guidance, Tunisia secured their qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Madagascar in the fifth round of qualifying.

Similarly, Hamadi Daou has been confirmed as an assistant coach, while Mohamed Sahli is also expected to join new technical crew.

Trabelsi has assembled a technical team, which includes:

Aymen Jedidi and Wassim Maala – physical preparation and development,
Hichem Jaziri – goalkeeping coach,
Helmi El-Kachou and Walid Bentmansour – tactical analysts.
