The Max Air flight from Lagos reportedly crash-landed at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport late Tuesday night.
Max Air passengers narrowly escaped disaster after a passenger plane carrying at least 53 people was forced to make an emergency landing.

The incident occurred at 10:57 p.m. when the aircraft reportedly lost its nose landing gear tyre during touchdown.
Reports indicate that immediately after landing, one of the tires burst and caught fire. However, no casualties were recorded.
This is not the first time Max Air has experienced a similar incident.
According to details published on the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s website on May 8, 2023, and reviewed by SaharaReporters, the airline previously faced a similar situation involving 144 passengers and six crew members.
“Max Air flight NGL1649 a B737 aircraft with registration 5N-MBD departed Yola for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja with 144 passengers and 6 flight crew on board.
“During landing at Abuja airport, the aircraft lost some tires, the flight crew brought the aircraft to a safe stop on Runway 22 at 2.57pm local time (14.57 hrs GMT). All persons on board were evacuated safely and the airport emergency services including the rescue and firefighting services response was excellent.
“Abuja airport was shut down due to the disabled aircraft on the runway, as Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport is a single runway airport. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued by NAMA accordingly.
“All relevant agencies including NCAA, FAAN, NAMA and NSIB swung into action collaboratively to ensure the prompt removal of the disabled aircraft from the runway and reopening of the airport for flight operations.
“Several flights, both domestic and international flights were stranded at Abuja airport, while incoming flights diverted to other airports,” the report read.
On December 5, 2024, Max Air faced yet another emergency landing.
Reports indicated that the flight experienced a fire outbreak as a result of the emergency landing.
The management of Max Air confirmed that its aircraft, Flight VM1623, with registration number 5N-BBM, suffered an engine fire incident shortly after takeoff from Muhammadu Buhari International Airport in Maiduguri.
