Four English Premier League clubs, including Fulham, Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and West Ham United, are in the race to sign Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze from AC Milan in January.
According to Caught Offside, Chukwueze could be allowed to leave the San Siro if Milan succeed in their pursuit of Manchester United’s Brazilian winger Antony during the winter transfer window.
Aston Villa are reportedly frontrunners for the 25-year-old’s signature due to manager Unai Emery’s previous relationship with the player at Villarreal, where they won the Europa League and reached the Champions League semi-finals together.
The Nigerian joined Milan on a five-year deal in July 2023 but has struggled to secure regular playing time, starting just 14 of his 33 competitive appearances in the 2023/24 season with three goals and three assists.
In the current campaign, Chukwueze has made only four starts in 11 matches, though he recently showed glimpses of his quality by scoring the winner against Udinese and providing an assist in a 3-1 Champions League victory over Club Brugge.
However, the former Villarreal star played the entire duration of Milan’s 2-0 loss to Napoli on Tuesday but failed to make a significant impact in the game.
With the January transfer window approaching, the left-footed winger’s future at Milan could depend on his performances under Paulo Fonseca in the coming weeks, as the Serie A giants consider strengthening their attacking options.
