The Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has appointed Comptroller Muhammed Umar Abubakar as the new Area Controller for Katsina Customs Command.
The Customs Public Relations Officer, SC Tahir Balarabe, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said Umar took over the affairs of the Command on 13th September, 2023 from his predecessor Compt. MN Musa.
The statement said Umar, a native of Bauchi State, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and joined the Customs Service as an Assistant Superintendent of Customs in 1989.
Over the years, he has undertaken various training programs both domestically and internationally, culminating in his status as a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria.
His career within the Customs Service has been marked by postings to various formations, units, and departments, demonstrating his versatility and expertise.
Prior to his appointment as Customs Area Controller, he served as Acting Comptroller Special Duties at the Headquarters in Abuja.He has also held substantive positions as controller in Plateau/Nasarawa/Benue and Kano/Jigawa.
Most recently, he was the Comptroller Admin at the Zonal Headquarters, Zone B Kaduna.
Upon assuming office, Umar expressed his gratitude to the Acting Comptroller General and the management team for the opportunity to serve as the controller of the Katsina Area Command.
He pledged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and work ethics in his new role. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of discipline and professionalism among the officers and staff of the Command in carrying out their duties.
