Popular Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has been brought before Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun of a Magistrate’s court in Yaba, Lagos state, by the Lagos state Police Command.
He is being charged with assaulting a police officer, which is an offense under Section 356 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act.
The police prosecutor, S. A. Adebese, requested that the defendant be remanded for 21 days pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
However, Femi Falana, SAN, who is representing the defendant, pleaded with the court not to remand his client, stating that he was not informed about the remand application.
