Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, has emerged the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

Kwankwaso disclosed this during NNPP’s convention in Abuja on Wednesday.

The former governor recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the NNPP.

He was picked unanimously by NNPP’s 774 party delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), through a voice voting.

Last week, the founding National Chairman of the NNPP, Boniface Aniegbonam, had said Kwankwaso was the party’s only presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

Aniegbonam had disclosed this during a press conference in Lagos State.

Kwankwaso was the Governor of Kano State from 1999 to 2003 and 2011 to 2015.
