The immediate past spokesperson of Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Service (DSS), Marilyn Ogar, says loyalty and patriotism in the service of fatherland has no reward in the country.
Ogar who was demoted and compulsorily retired from the service by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government upon assumption of office, said she put her life on the line in the service of Nigeria, but was “burnt” and thrown to the Boko Haram terrorists who had placed a bounty on her.
She narrated her ordeal while featuring on The Chat, a Channels Television programme on Sunday.
When asked to comment on the ongoing EndSARS protests, Ogar said both the protesters and the federal government must engage and find ways of resolving the issues embedded in the struggle.
“I was supposed to retire as an Assistant Director, but I was demoted two steps before I was retired.
“Loyalty and patriotism do not pay in Nigeria. I was burnt after sacrificing my life. Can you imagine that I was sent to the dogs; the Boko Haram terrorists who placed a bounty on me for doing my job as spokesperson of the service?” Ogar wondered.
