Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, the Managing Director, Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has vowed that his agency would on Sallah day commence the enforcement of two passengers per tricycle across the state in line with COVID-19 protocols.
Babba Dan’agundi in a statement signed by Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, Public Relations Officer of the organisation assured that personnel of the agency would be available for a hitch free traffic during the festive period.
The statement said the MD “has assured that personnel of the agency would be on ground to ensure easy flow of traffic during the forthcoming Sallah Eid-el-Kabir Celebration.
“Motorists and other road users are urged to respect all traffic laws during and after the period and accord KAROTA personnel all necessary cooperation to enable them carry out their duties effectively.
“The Managing Director wishes to warn that those who engage in car race and other dangerous ways of driving would be apprehended and prosecuted accordingly.
“Parents are also advised to desist from giving their underage children/wards, any vehicle to drive especially during the festive period, which has become common, as such act would not be tolerated by the agency” adding that any underage caught driving would be apprehended and the vehicle seized.
The period he said is characterized by lots of visitations to extended family and loved ones, while embarking on such visitations, “KAROTA wishes to remind the teeming population of the state to think of their safety and drive safe”.
Tricycle operators are also reminded that only two passengers are allowed per trip and all must wear face masks while overload of cars is also not allowed just as carrying someone on motorcycle is strictly prohibited.
