The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board has appealed to Qur’anic teachers otherwise known as ‘Tsangaya Teachers’ and other relevant stake holders to join hands with government on its effort to reduce the number of out of school children through the new programme tagged Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA).
BESDA is a World Bank/Federal Government funded project, aimed at mopping up out-of-school children and getting them back to classes in collaboration with the state government.
State Chairman of the Board Dr Abubakar Dahiru Bauchi made the appeal at a one day Sensitization Workshop organized for major stake holders in Tsangaya education as part of effort to return all out of school children to classrooms.
He stressed the importance of education saying it is the bedrock of development and essential for survival of mankind.
He asked all residents of the state to support the programmes for development of education.
The SUBEB Chairman said the programme will assist the Tsangaya teachers with feeding for their pupils, teachers allowances and other basic necessary learning and instructional materials.
On his Part, Gombe State Project Coordinator BESDA Dr Abdullahi Bappah advised the participants to pay attention in order to benefit from the programme which will be implemented in Bauchi and Gombe states.
